The STR Group is proud to announce our win of Best Medium Recruitment Business Award at the Global Recruiter’s glittering ceremony last week! This was swiftly followed the next night by a ‘Highly Commended’ for our Recruitment Consultant, Jake Harris, for Best Newcomer in Recruitment at the REC Awards, and comes on top of our Solent 250 win for Employer of the Year announced in June.

The Global Recruiter Awards were designed to honour truly outstanding businesses and individuals in the recruitment industry. The judges are all long-term professionals from the sector, who can identify and appreciate when a business provides exceptional service to their clients and candidates, and takes outstanding care of its staff.
In all, 10 individual and 74 company entries were shortlisted across 17 categories. STR was up for ‘Best Medium Recruitment Business’, and the competition was strong! Darren Day, our Group’s CEO, confirmed that to walk away with the top accolade was an incredible feeling and the next day, our offices were buzzing!
We were delighted to be ‘Highly Commended’ at the Global Recruiter Awards last year, recognised for our performance in a year of many internal changes. However, if anything, we are competitive, so we went away, dusted ourselves down, and looked at how we could further improve our colleague, client and candidate experiences in 2024. 12 months on, we are ecstatic to have delivered on this and secured the winner’s trophy!

Individual Excellence
The following evening, we were celebrating again as Jake Harris was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ at the REC Awards for ‘Best Newcomer in Recruitment’. The Recruitment and Employment Confederation puts on a truly glittering evening and our attendees were treated like VIPs from start to finish!
Jake, who has been with Talos Automation, the Group’s specialist automation brand, since March 2023, has made an incredible impact, smashing his targets and winning several internal company accolades. The entire business, but particularly his Team Manager and Operations Director, were delighted that his hard work and natural talent has been recognised, especially as, according to the REC, the calibre of entries this year was the highest ever!
Jake confirmed he was thrilled to be nominated by his company and recognised by his industry peers in this way:
The show was incredible, and it was great to see the achievements of everyone this year. Personally, I’m proud to have just been nominated and grateful to have had the chance to attend the awards, but to receive recognition like this means a huge amount to me.
