STR wants to say a massive congratulations to the thousands of runners who took to the streets of Portsmouth this weekend to conquer the 33rd annual Great South Run! Most people taking part were running to raise money for a wide range of charities and event organisers said millions of pounds were raised. How incredible!
We are so proud to say we had our very own incredible team of runners representing STR Group. A massive hats off to the following people: Clive Hutchings, Ross Sanderson, Holly Noonan, Jack Baker, Lewis Wright, Jake O’Connor, Adam Rymell, Kate Dowden, James Gigg and Oliver Page. Lots of hard work and preparation went into the race and every one of them pushed themselves to the limit to raise money for a charity that is very close to our hearts: Motive8.
Holly Noonan, Recruitment Consultant for Navis Consulting, commented, “The Great South Run was such a great experience. My training leading up to it wasn’t great due to an injury and having Covid a couple of weeks before, so I was a little nervous not knowing how I would perform. All that aside, the crowd was amazing and really got me through it. Taking part with colleagues was just the best and doing it for Motiv8 was inspiring! It’s such a great cause and they were all so supportive – I really felt the love. Everyone did so well we were all buzzing afterwards, it really does help with your mental health. I recommend committing to a yearly challenge with others, it really does bring the teams together and knowing you are making a huge impact for your charity and the people they work with is so rewarding. Let’s see how many we can get to do it next year!”
Motiv8 is a life-changing youth support charity with a 20+ year history. They are being passionate about empowering young people aged 9-25 and families who are experiencing extreme hardships such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse, homelessness and mental health issues. Motiv8 supports young people and gives them a safe place and trusted people to turn to. Without this charity, many people would struggle to see a way forward. Every penny donated helps and provides support, stability and a safe place.
Oliver Page, Recruitment Consultant for Blackfield Associates explained, “I really enjoyed the challenge, and it gave me a great sense of achievement too. It was also fantastic to raise money for a great cause!”
